Takachiho Gorge, God lives there.

Takachiho Gorge (Takachiho Kyo) is a canyon along the Gogase River located in Takachiho-cho, Nishiusuki-gun, Miyazaki Prefecture. It was formed by lava after the Mt. Aso’s recent voIcanic activity.



Where God lives?

 According to the oldest historical book in Japan, called Kojiki, it is said that there are many famous mythological stories based in Japan and especially Takachiho in Miyazaki Prefecture.  it is said that there are many famous mythological stories.

It is said that God asked his grandchild, Ninigi Nomikoto to rule the earth from the top of the mountain in Takachiho.

 

Takachiho Shrine

Takachiho Shrine was built to worship Ninigi Nomikoto. It is said that it was founded about 1900 years ago. The current main hall built in 1778 is designated as an important cultural property of the country.

 

Manai waterfall

The waterfall is designated as one of the hundred great waterfalls in Japan and is the main symbol of the Takachiho Gorge. The waterfall from around 17m above ground level is a spectacular sight throughout the year.

Fee (one boat) 2,000 yen / 30min  *300 yen for every 10 minutes extension
