Fushimi Inari is the head of Inari shrines located throughout Japan. It was built in 711. It is said that there is the benefit of business prosperity and house safety from natural disasters, and it is crowded with many worshipers all year round.
Popular with overseas travelers, it was ranked # 1 for five consecutive years in the ranking of “Japan’s most popular tourist spot” by the world’s largest travel hotel website published in June 2018!
What is the Senbon Torii ?
The highlight of the shrine is the rows of torii gates, known as Senbon torii. It means a thousand gates. However, it is said there are more than 10,000 gates. There are about 850 gates along the main street. The distance of Senbon Torii is about 400 meters, and the number of stairs at the foot is about 1300 steps. While you walk through the gates, you keep to the right.
Dreams come true ?
There is another famous place called Omokaruishi. The meaning of the word is means stones, and you can hold the stones placed there.
It is believed that if you feel that the rock is light then your dream would come true. On the other hand, if the rock is heavier than you expected then the dream wouldn’t.
